Günther Hofbauer holds an M.D. degree and trained at the University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland, as dermatologist and allergist/clinical immunologist. He went to medical school in Switzerland (Basel, Lausanne) and Germany (Heidelberg). Prof. Hofbauer has completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Dermatology Branch, National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health. He is the head of the SGDV Working Group for dermatology and organ transplantation, represents this Working Group within the Scientific Committee of the Swiss Transplant Cohort Study and is the immediate-past President of SCOPE, a European association of dermatologists caring for organ transplant recipients. Prof. Hofbauer practices outpatient dermatology, immunology and allergy with Allderm, Wetzikon, cares for inpatients at Hirslanden Klinik, Zurich, and runs a research group at the Dermatology Department Zurich focussing on squamous cell carcinoma of the skin and potential prevention and treatment.
