ICO-Allergan Advanced Research Fellowship
Emilio Torres received the ICO (International Council of Ophthalmology) - Allergan Advanced Research Fellowship with an endowment of USD 50.000. As young clinical researcher with numerous publications and conference contributions, Emilio fulfilled all the criteria. He will formally receive his award at the upcoming World Ophthalmology Congress, as well as deliver a presentation on his research on keratoconus and corneal cross-linking (CXL). His aims include investigating the optimal energy dose/irradiation time relationship to maximize oxygen re-diffusion in CXL, effects of temperature on the CXL procedure, as well as changes in corneal biomechanics due to heavy and repetitive eye rubbing.
