We congratulate Dr. Emilio Torres-Netto from the Ocular Cell Biology Group of our CABMM Research Platform who received the Barraquer Medal for his contribution in the field of cataract and refractive surgery and corneal cross-linking.

The Barraquer Medal is awarded by the Brazilian Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgery to surgeons and researchers who have made a special contribution to the field of refractive surgery. The medal is named in honor the Spanish ophthalmologist José Ignacio Barraquer Moner who is widely considered to be "the father of modern refractive surgery".
