ESCRS poster award 2019
Emilio Torres receives ESCRS poster award 2019
The 37th congress of the European Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS) took place in Paris from September 14 to 18, 2019. Attracting almost 10.000 participants, the ESCRS is the second largest congress in the ophthalmological field worldwide.
Emilio Torres, member of the Ocular Cell Biology Group at the CABMM, UZH and ELZA Institute, Zurich, has been ranked first with his poster presentation entitled “Stromal bed smoothness after excimer laser surface ablation as a key element for the expression of inflammatory genes”.
The project combined the results from many years of basic research and data generated from a clinical study performed by the ELZA Institute in Zurich. The main focus was on the improvement of laser refractive surgery techniques to minimize post-operative inflammatory reactions.
The implementation of new ablation algorithms reduced post-operative inflammatory responses in the cornea, importantly these results could be validated in the basic research lab.

Emilio Torres erhält den Posterpreis der ESCRS 2019
Die ESCRS (European Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery) hielt ihren Jahreskongress vom 14. bis 18.
